Our Summer Party is…

  • An opportunity to open our doors to the local community, get people involved and share what we do;
  • A fundraiser to help us raise money to improve our communal areas, make the Bone Yard more accessible and create a community space for workshops, creative collaborations and groups;
  • A perfect excuse for a fun get together with our residents, friends, crowdfunder backers, local community and everyone who supports the Bone Yard!

Why you’ll definitely want to be there

Entertainment We’ve got live music from some talented local bands, and Sparkle’s Hoop Troupe – described by We Are Cardiff Press as ‘the funniest, finest and most dynamic act in Cardiff’ – will be giving us a demonstration of their fabulous hula-hooping skills.

Food and drink Savour a delicious artisan pizza cooked up by Bone Yard residents Ffwrnes Pizza, accompanied by a pint from small local brewery Pipes Craft Beer… or if cocktails are more your line, a mojito!

Stalls An eclectic mix of good quality art, crafts and delicious treats will be on sale for you to browse, buy and enjoy.

Workshops In true Bone Yard style, we’ll be hosting workshops from a variety of residents and local creative types throughout the day.

Lots of you have already bought your tickets via our crowdfunding appeal, but you can also buy tickets on the day (£5).

More about the Bone Yard… and our community space

Founded six months ago, the Bone Yard is a collection of repurposed shipping containers based in Canton, Cardiff. The containers have been turned into unique studio spaces aimed at small businesses. They provide a chance for the residents to move their business from their kitchen table and grow together in a creative community. We have the beginnings of a little community here and we want to build on this and make it even better.

We now have 12 lovely residents doing a wide variety of things with their containers, including illustration, jewellery making, pizza, picture framing, cakes and massage therapy.

There is a disused warehouse space at the back of the yard and we are in the process of turning this into a communal area. It will allow residents to welcome more people into the yard and develop their practice. The space will be multi-purpose: pop up café, office, waiting room and workshop space.
